Controlling those noxious weeds

Happy belated Father’s Day to all fathers. I hope you all had a great day.

Noxious weeds need to be controlled within the city limits and it does not matter how tall they are. I am the weed inspector for the city, and while I do get around town, I may not see all of the weeds that may be present.

If you see any questionable weeds, please call city hall and give them the address and we will get someone out to look at the weeds in question. An even better way to handle the weed in question is to politely ask the owner or occupant of the property if they could please control the weeds and the easiest way is to mow them.

While noxious weeds need to be controlled, grass may reach 12 inches tall before it is out of ordinance. Personally, I hope that grass isn’t allowed to reach this height.

There is property within the city limits that has not been developed. This land does not have to be mowed as long as there are no noxious weeds. Also, a lawn must be established and maintained when a new dwelling is built on a piece of property.

Have a great week, everyone.
